“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” ~ Romans 10:17
One of the most significant ways to build up our faith is by studying the Bible. Furthermore, in Joshua 1:8 Joshua was reminded that his success and prosperity would be directly related to his ability to retain and meditate upon the Word of God. These verses are evidence of the fact that God has designed His Word as building agents for our faith. As we come into agreement with the Word of God, it becomes essential that we speak it as evidence of our belief. Paul declared in 2 Corinthians 4:13 “having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak.” Many people don’t realize how powerful their words are. The reality is, whatever we believe we will speak, what we speak has the power to shape our lives significantly. Therefore, as Christians we must speak what God says, not what are circumstances or own thoughts say to us. If I am sick in my body, I must declare “by His stripes I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5); If I am in lack, I must declare “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1); If I am faced with spiritual attacks, I must declare “no weapon formed against me shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17).
